Social Work

SU offers its bachelor of arts in social work and master of social work programs at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown (USMH). These satellite programs are “blended,” meaning they use the latest technology, including face-to-face classroom instruction, fully interactive live video and online instruction from SU’s full-time faculty. This unique program allows students to complete all components of the degree in Hagerstown. The programs are designed with the working student in mind with courses scheduled in the evening and during the summer term.

All of SU’s undergraduate and graduate social work programs are fully accredited by the Council of Social Work Education, a must for earning licensure.

Public Health

Looking for a career that would allow you to be part of the current response and help others in a variety of settings? The Public Health program from Salisbury University at USMH prepares students to become certified Community Health Education Specialists (CHES). Watch this video to learn more about a career as a Community Health Education Specialist. The possibilities are endless!

Graduates of the public health program become employed in a variety of settings, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations and healthcare. Graduates are also prepared to continue their education as graduate students of diverse disciplines, including public health, health education, business administration, public relations, occupational therapy, curriculum and instruction, psychology and social work. Health educators plan, implement and evaluate programs based on assessed needs of their target populations.

The public health program prepares students to work with individuals, groups and families in a variety of settings, including health behavior organizations and wellness centers. With our program as your core, you could become one of the following:
