USMH Student Support Services
What is food insecurity?
Food insecurity is an official term from the USDA. It's when people don't have enough to eat and don't know where their next meal will come from. It's a big problem in the United States, where over 44 million people, including 13 million children, experience food insecurity annually. However, many more people, including millions who do not meet the definition of food insecure—turn to the charitable food sector for support. Learn more about how Feeding America measures hunger in America.
We recognize that access to food may be a barrier to USMH students. Please see below for available resources. Contact Katy Coleman, Student Services Coordinator with any questions at kcoleman@hagerstown.usmd.edu
USMH Student Food Pantry:
USMH has established a grab-and-go food pantry available to all USMH students in which students may help themselves to 3 items each week.
When using the pantry, please log the date and number of items received (your name or any identifying information is not required). This will allow us to serve you better.
Location: USMH Student Lounge (near vending machines)
Support our Student Food Pantry
USMH welcomes the donation of non-perishable items from faculty, staff and community members. Donations can be made by dropping off items at our main building located at 32 W. Washington Street during our normal operating hours (Monday - Thursday 8 am - 9 pm and Friday 8 am - 5 pm) or ordering from our Amazon Wish List.
Thank you for your support!
