The 9th USMH Graduation Celebration took place on May 19, 2015. This year's graduation celebration honored a class of 170 students. The USMH Executive Director, Mark Halsey, the Mayor of Hagerstown, The Honorable David Gysberts, the President of Frostburg State University, Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, and the Vice Chancellor for Government Relations, Patrick Hogan, all welcomed students with opening remarks.
The student speaker for the evening was Ms. Katrin Pinkham, a graduate of Salisbury's B.A. in Social Work program. Despite personal challenges, Katrin has continued her volunteer service working with the homeless population through REACH in Washington County, as well as participating as a strong advocate for individuals who face challenges with substance abuse through AA, while remaining on the dean's list through most of her college career. Katrin hopes to continue her education until she becomes a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C).
A group of 7 students received Student Leadership and Service Awards, which recognize graduates for their leadership, service, involvement and dedication to the student experience and community at USMH. Student Academic Achievement Awards were given to 10 graduates for their excellence in academics and contributions to their academic programs of study.
We thank everyone who helped to make this year's Graduation Celebration a success and wish the new graduates all the best in their future endeavours.
